Working Alongside Communities

Raeburn House works on the premise that, given access to information, resources and support, people and communities can exercise greater choice in their lives, define their own priority health gains and issues, and thereby improve their mental health and community wellbeing.

Community Development Approach

Application of community development processes, critical to Raeburn House's work are based on the Ottawa and Bangkok charters and underpinned by te Tiriti o Waitangi. The model of Raeburn House embraces "Whare Tapa Wha" (Maori concept of Health) which honours the intrinsic link between mental, social, emotional and spiritual wellbeing.

Raeburn House works alongside communities within the region, applying a participatory and empowering development model to strengthen mental health and community wellbeing.
