A residential special school for Deaf children, also a training centre focusing on issues pertaining to Deafness. Specialist teaching and resource services (including counselling) are available to deaf or hard of hearing pre-schoolers to transition aged students and their families, living from Turangi to North Cape. Kelston Deaf Education Centre and staff maintain a close association with the Deaf community.
